United Kingdom

Bamburgh Castle Northumberland

The UK is a varied destination of countries, islands, counties and cities. Whatever your choice of holiday you are sure to find it here. From seaside lodges, country cottages and city apartments to farms, castles and mansions.

The capital cities of London, Edinburgh and Cardiff have many museums, art galleries, and a huge selection of shops for the shopaholics. Large shopping mall such as Bluewater in Kent, and Metro Centre in Tyne and Wear also satisfy the habit.

For those preferring a less hectic pace, head for the hills and mountains in Scotland, the Lake District and the Peak District , or the peace of the North Pennines and Cheviots in Northumbria. The beautiful Cotswold landscape may also appeal.

Lakeland fells, Cumbria

You can head to the coastal regions for some stunning scenery. Northumbria and North Yorkshire can provide a quieter alternative to the rugged Devon and Cornwall coastline , or head to the Southern beach resorts of Brighton or Bournemouth, or Blackpool in the North-West for a more traditionally British seaside holiday. Western Scotland can be warm and pleasant, with beautiful views of the Islands beyond (don’t forget the whisky tasting !).

Our 13 magnificent Norman cathedrals such as Durham , York , Winchester , are breathtaking and well worth a visit. The scale of these buildings have to be seen to be believed.

The National Trust has many stately homes and magnificent gardens in its care, and there is bound to be a property close by with something for all the family.

Burghley Castle, South Lincolnshire

London has its own major attractions, as well as countless theatres, museums and galleries. Take in a musical in the West End, or a meal in a Michelin starred restaurant owned by a celebrity chef.

Above all, there will be something in the Uk to satisfy everyone at any time of year. It may not have the hot climate of the Mediterranean, but it can provide many other activities to make up for it.
